Biennale of Venice 2022
My work is often inspired by contrasts and challenges. For my participation in the Biennale 2022 in Venice, invited by SWATCH, I created a field of tension: the bust of Napoleon, who put an end to the Republic of Venice at the end of the 18th century, is seen in opposition to the Lion of St. Marc, the symbol of Venice. The sculpture of the Lion of Venice, which has been especially created for this exhibition, I made from newspapers of Venice and refined Venetian fabrics selected from the Rubelli collection. My lion now belongs to the institute’s collection and is on permanent display at the entrance to the Biennale library..
